I have a 2001 chrysler 300m.do this car have front brakes or back brakes,i want to change the brake pads?
All cars have front and rear brakes. This car has front and back brake pads.
Help with car brakes?
This happens is when it's cold outside usually. When I put the brake on, instead of the car stopping smoothly it stops abruptly making the entire car jolt almost. I definitely jolt in my seat. It'll keep doing that until the car is fully warm. Even afterwards I hear the back brakes almost like they're dragging? I don't know if that's the word. I'll step on the brakes slowly and I'll hear the back brakes making this weird noise. The only way I can explain is you know when you're on a bike on a gravel road and you put the brakes on but the bike sometimes still skids on the gravel...that's what it sounds and feels like but the car stops no problem. It's making me paranoid. I've had all the oils and fluids changed and new brake pads about a year ago. What could this be and how do I explain to a mechanic?? I drive a 99 Chev Cavalier
Help with car brakes?
I,de pull off the rear drums on the brakes and have a look there sounds like you got broken hardware floating around in the rear brakes. It can stillstop with broken stuff. But it sounds like you have busted peices inside the rear drum.
Help with car brakes?
the brake dust has built up on your rear brake drums they need to be checked out or replaced this a common problem the cavalier and sunfire
The brake system should be checked. Most brake shops offer a safety check for a low amount.
In my opinion though, it sounds like the rear brakes are worn and need to be replaced. If the rear brakes are locking, the shoes sound like they could very well be worn out.
If you explain the rear brakes locking to a mechanic, he'll know exactly what I'm talking about and most likely advise getting the rear brakes checked and replaced.
you need to have your drum brakes adjusted and possibly need to replace your drum brake shoes and springs. also you may need new drums.

Car brake problems on 95 Honda Accord?
Ive had this car for about a yr, Recently the brakes would be soft on every other brake I hit. Not just this week every time I hit the brakes they are soft...I push them, and push them and then they kinda are soft spongey like...Ive had some friends look at it, Looks like no leak, brake fluid is there but not toped off...We are going to add brake fluid and bleed the lines hoping there is air in them....Also if that doesnt work someone said something about the booster....Im not driving my kids around in this car while it has issues....I changed brake pads about 6 months ago and CV boots, Next to fix were the rotars. Any inout or suggestions are appreciated!
Car brake problems on 95 Honda Accord?
bleed brakes and if problem is still there replace mastercylinder.
Car brake problems on 95 Honda Accord?
hope fully after you bleed the brakes it goes away- and if that dosnt work maby you could get your hands on some %26quot;temp%26quot; roters and brake pads just to see if that is the problem.... if that dosnt work id have to say the master cylinder. but im not familliar with any hondas let alone the 95 accord. so good luck keep you family safe.
75% You have air in the brakes line.(bleed'em)
10% the front brakes hoses.(check'em)
5% the brakes booster.(test'em)receiving error code 0x80072ee7 xp

How important is it to flush/change/bleed a car's brake fluid?
VW dealer recommended it as standard maintenance, but wanted a lot $$$ to do it. I have no problems with brakes, so is it really important? I'm thinkng I'll just wait until the brakes need replacing and that'll take care of it. BTW, the car is 3 years old.
How important is it to flush/change/bleed a car's brake fluid?
Well it is important but, if there is no corrosion or leaks I would wait until I service the breaks then change it.
How important is it to flush/change/bleed a car's brake fluid?
On VW's it is recommedned to flush the brake fluid every 24 months. Brake fluid attracts water. Water contamination lowers the boiling point of the fluid, which can lead to brake fade. Water also corrodes brake components like Master Cylinders and Brake Calipers. VW's are already notoriously prone to expensive rear brake caliper failure.
In other words, get it done. It's cheaper than replacing expensive hydraulic components.
important for not going to crash

Easy car brakes question?
i have a FWD 2004 celica gts and i need the brakes changed, do i get the front nrake pads replaced or rear brakes or both?
Easy car brakes question?
All your stopping power is in the front the, back brakes are there to help slow down the speed of the car and to help stop but at a secondary rate because of the proportioning valve splits the difference in pressure to the front and to the rear. But what you might do is replace the front and have the rear checked out but if it should be done do all.And have the fluid changed in the master cylinder and all through out the system because the fluid brakes down just like motor oil does and moisture can get in and rust out the system and hurt the seals and what not.hgm20002000@yahoo.com
Easy car brakes question?
The front brakes last less than the rear but absolutely have both checked. If the rear brakes have never been changed then 6 years is over due.
Easy answer- Which ever is bad. If you don't know- change them both to be safe. Or buy them both and only replace the ones you need and then take the others back to save money. Hope I have been helpful.
the only ones you need to replace are the bad ones. like if the front are bad and the back is still good all you need to change are the front.
have all the brakes checked and replace the ones that need it.

Can an average person change their car's shocks/struts in their garage?
I have a scion TC and I recently bought shocks and struts for it. I've changed my brakes before. I can't find anything on changing the suspension. Can an average person do this in their garage?
Can an average person change their car's shocks/struts in their garage?
Not recommended without some prior experience and the proper tools. Removing compressed springs can be dangerous and destructive if not properly removed.
Can an average person change their car's shocks/struts in their garage?
With the right tools any job can be easy. But with shocks and struts your working with compressed springs and without the proper tools it might be a job best left up to the pros.
The specialized tooling for this job could be as expensive as paying some one to do it.
Spring compressor with safety cage
Pickle fork.
Knowledge.........
Come on over, I have the tools and the knowledge. Bring your wallet.
Even with a DIY guide and the right tools, it's going to be hell the first time, especially if you aren't working with someone who knows how to do it. The front springs are not so hard to get to, but the rear springs are a PAIN to get to on the tC. Luckily, I have a friend who's changed springs on tC's many times, but it still took us a little over two hours and a LOT of work. Even after helping out and watching carefully, I still wouldn't want to attempt this by myself without more experience. Changing the brakes is cake compared to this.
I would suggest you shop around and find a trusted shop to do it for you unless you can get someone you know who has done it before to help you.
You have to get a spring compressor and make sure the springs line up right on the struts or else that will clank.

Take your car to a brake shop to change your brake pads and you are given a estimate for unnecessary repairs?
Took car to just brake, on fm 1960 near ella to replace brake pads and was told by technician that the four caliphers on car was sticking and needed to be rebuilt. this diagnosis was given without him at anytime checking my car.I took my car to the dealership my caliphers did not need repairs, all my car needed was the brake pads changed. Is their a hidden message here?.
