I just changed all four brake pads in my 2000 impala a week ago, but at times when I brake, I hear a high pitched noise as you would normally hear when you are running out of brake pads. But I just recently changed it, what could it be?

It may just be the new pads breaking in or you may have some dust build-up. Try cleaning the rotors and pads with brake cleaner.

Hey, the pads %26quot;breaking in%26quot; isn't the problem. When installing new brake pads you need to apply a thin layer of grease to the back of the pads, and lube your caliper pins. This acts as a cushion between the metal to metal surfaces eliminating that %26quot;high pitched noise%26quot; you are hearing. The question is, did you do it yourself? Or did you take it somewhere? If you did it yourself, go to your local auto parts store and buy some brake grease and apply to the back of the pads and grease up the pins (if equipped). If it was a shop, bring it back the tech didn't install your brake pads properly.
sometimes you can hear the abs system if you hit the brakes hard i wonder if that might be what your hearing.
the pads have a small layer of rubber to protect them during shipping and store kept they will wear off in a few weeks
Take it back and let them look. You don't mess with brakes. Could be they left a screwdriver in there.
the car ias just breaking them in, it will stop soon but if not take it back in and make them check it for free
