Changing brakes on a car?

do you need to change front and back brakes all at once or will it be bad if say i replaced my front brakes then my rear brakes a week or 2 after? (if t helps i drve an 84 trans am) thanks|||as long as you replace both of whatever end you decide to replace(i.e. both front or both rear), your fine|||nah just the 2 front brakes the ones in back probably wont need changing for a while you probably have shoes in the back|||if you%26#039;re going to do that, check all 4 hubs and see which ones need changing first. in any case there shouldn%26#039;t be a problem with the way you planned unless there is some other problem you see while checking the hubs.|||you don,t need to change all 4 wheels if 2 or the wheels are still good. just look at them and change the ones that are bad.|||Rear brakes tend to last a lot longer than front brakes. Change the front and examine the rear. They don%26#039;t need to be changed at the same time.|||If this is an 84 the fronts have been changed more than once

already and you should check the rear shoes, the wheel will have

to come off and the brake drum will also have to be removed, but

to remove the drum you may have to back off the adjustment it

takes a screw driver or a brake tool and a probe to lift the rachet

lever off the adjustment wheel.
