How much will new brakes cost for my car?

Hii... Ok i dont know anything about cars, im just wondering how much would it cost to change my car brakes, i need to do that ASAP cuz when i brake it sounds horrible!! But i dont want a mechanic to charge me more and if they do i wouldnt know if its alot or not!.. can someone give me an estimation??? (if u really know)

I drive a Dodge Stratus SE 2001|||If your brakes are squeaaling its because the wear tab on the brake pads is hitting the rotor, thats what its there for, it makes the brakes squeal when the pads are low so you know when to replace them.

Pads cost 20-100 dollars per set (front or rear) depending on the car, the quality of pads, and the markup where you buy them, you will also need to pay for labor to install them which isnt much at all.

You may need new rotors as well, in that case each rotor will cost anywhere from ~50$ to as much as 400 per rotor depending on the car, and the quality fo the rotor, most shops will rape you in the *** on rotors, so if you cna find a shop that allows you to bring in parts from outside vendors, pay them for the labor, and have them install parts you buy at autozone or pepboys or something. youls save hundreds of dollars. Delaerships and most franchised garages like pepboys, sears auto, etc will not allow parts form outside vendors, you need to go and ask the little tiny garages at gas stations if they will allow it. If you goto a parts store ot buy parts you need only know what make, model, and year your car is, and what size engine it has, they will then get you the parts.

it coudl cost anywhere from 200 bucks for basic pads and labor, 450 bucks for pads, and cheap rotors to as much as 2k for high end pads and rotors, depending on what you have to do to it|||not much, parts are maybe around 100 bucks for all 4, or something like that.
