OMG you need to flush the entire system out. it will take forever to get power steering fluid out. try cracking the bleeders and letting them gravity bleed but dont let the reservoir run out or you will get air in the system which on the GM Fbodys can be a pain to get out. Use DOT3 brake fluid and your gonna need a lot of it probably 2 quarts will flush it good enough. use almost all the fluid with gravity bleed and then close the bleeders and top off. put the top on the master cylinder and pump the brakes. With the pedal on the floor have someone open the right rear bleeder and then repeat until all air is out of that caliper. top off fluid and then move to the left rear and repeat. top off and move to the right front and then to the left front. Tip: dont open bleeder until pedal is down and dont lift off pedal until bleeder is closed. dont let the brake fluid get on any paint because itacts like paint thinner and will peel paint off anything. also the power steering fluid will evaporate under heavy braking leaving you with no brakes because the fluid turned to a gas and the brake system works on the principle of hydraulics it has to remain a liquid. also if the brake fluid you used bleed the brakes the last tim has not had the cap on good throw it away brake fluid is hydroscopic and absorbs the moisture in the air and it too will evaporate like the ps fluid. dont drive the car until fixed!!!!!

The master cylinder is probably fine just wrong fluid and air in system.

You need to flush the system and bleed all the air out.
This recently happend to me you want to get a new master brake cylinder as soon as possible. Make sure you take it to a certified mechanic because the procedure to change it is very complicated
you have to bleed the brakes until all the power steering fluid is out of the system, then refill with brake fluid. It probably didn't hurt your brake system any, but the oil in power steering fluid is the same as that in a transmission NOT in a master cylinder. Just bleed them till it's empty, refill, then have it re-bled.
buy a rebuild kit which is cheaper and rebuild it yourself.
You are in trouble. The first thing you need to do is pull the master cylinder and %26quot;Bench Bleed%26quot; it. this involves getting a kit from your local parts store and installing the plugs and hoses onto the master cylinder. Then you push the piston in the back of the master cylinder in and out until you get all the air out of it, and just fluid comes out of the hoses (they were part of the kit). reinstall the master cylinder and bleed the brakes, starting with the right rear (it is the farthest from the M/C) and bleed them, and bleed them. It will take a while to get TO the air, much less get rid of it. On the fronts, it is possible to %26quot;Gravity bleed%26quot; them. You do this by opening the bleeder screws and let them drain. You will still have to pump them up and bleed them, but it will be much less trouble.

If you can get it to a shop, and if they have one, there is a tool called a bleeder ball that makes it much easier, but you will have to pay them to do it. You will need ALOT of fluid to do this, but by the time you are done, you will never run one out of brake fluid again!!!!!! At least i have not, not since i pulled the same stunt ya'll did 30 years ago lol. Good Luck
Nothing should be damaged. I've worked on cars that someone made this mistake before. All you really need to do is to bleed the system (front %26amp; back), refill, and bleed.
Firstly I would explain the difference in colour between transmission Fluid and Brake fluid. Normally Transmission fluid is red and Brake fluid is green. If you can't bleed out the Transmission fluid that's in your Brake System take the vehicle to your favourite Auto Mechanic, he will do that and it shouldn't cost much, Also ask your mechanic to check the seals in your brake system (Reason: The Transmission Fluid may have damaged the seals) The reason for the pedal going to the floor is that most likely has air trapped in the system. This has to be %26quot;Bled out%26quot; If your not mechanically minded take your car to a Motor Mechanic, all four wheels will have to %26quot;Bled%26quot; starting at the rear and then the front. WhenTransmission fluid gets hot it has less %26quot;Viscosity%26quot; and it expands. So basically auto Trans fluid is just too thin, your mechanic will flush your brake system to get rid of the Auto Trans fluid and then Re-Fill with Brake Fluid. A suggestion: Maybe your your %26quot;Boyfriend%26quot; should undertake a short course in %26quot;Getting to know your car%26quot; or something similar! Regards SadSack.
