Is a mechanic allowed to change tires and brakes on a car that is not inspected?

My car inspection has expired and I don't have the $ to get it ready to pass inspection but I would like new tires and brakes on it. Will a mechanic work on a non-inspected car knowing this? Are they legally obligated to report a car being driven past inspection? Does a mechanic have the authority to prevent you from driving off in a car past the inspection date?

They will only fix or repair what you tell them to. They may let you know that the inspection has expired, but that's as far as it goes.

Keep in mind though, the fines are not cheap should you get pulled over for it. A lot cheaper to get it done now.

well yes but it depends how much damage that has been inflicted to the tire and brake if the brake pads or disks are in very bad shape then yes they could change it for future purposes and if there is a nail in the tire or the tire is very worn out then yeah they can change that to.
How are you supposed to pass inspection if you couldn't get anything fixed?
