Brakes on my car?

Okay so the car is a 1988 Nissan Sentra(Not the all wheel drive version)

The brake fluid is full and there is no squeeking from the brakes themselfs.

BUT the brake pedal seems very hard to depress to stop. I checked the owners manual and reset whatever the %26quot;brake booster%26quot; is following the given instructions.

When i had new tires put on the car i had the mechanics check the brake pad and shoe levels to make sure they didnt need to be changed. When the brakes are pressed the car does NOT pull to either the left or right but just continues straight. But ever since i bought the car i noticed the brake pedal was very difficult to depress to stop. Any ideas?

Just a bleeding? Clogged brake line?

Try the brakes with the engine off, then try with engine running. If there is no, or very little difference its a bad brake booster.

may need a new brake booster if they r power brakes
