i changed the brake booster on my 96 chevy silverado. now the automatic transmission wont come out of park. i think it might have to do something with the brake sensor but not sure. is there a trick to this or can i bypass the brake sensor to make sure that is the problem.

The transmission safety lock can either use the regular brake light switch or there could be an additional switch on the pedal arm.

my guess would be you knocked the brake switch out of adjustment when changing the booster. make sure your brake lights are coming on when you depress the pedal if not readjust your brake switch
