Does the 2003 infiniti q35 have issues with needing to change brakes every 15k miles?

i've read a few things on the 2003 q35's needing frequent brake changes. some are sayng every 3 months. is this true? i had my mind on purchasing one, and that's quite a hefty added expense if i have to do that. also, would i need to use premium fuel for the life of the car? thnx for any helpful info.

I've heard of quite a few people that have had shortened brake life on the G35. This is only true for the Brembo brakes, however. The standard brakes didn't have many complaints.

That being said, I own a 2004 G35 coupe with the Brembos, and I'm on 22000 miles on the original brakes. There's still plenty of brake life left on my brakes too. I think the shortened life is at least partially from the driver. The Brembos brake hard, they are amazing at how well they stop the car. But because they are high performance brakes, they will wear faster. But, like I said, if you take care of the car and don't drive like a maniac, the brakes will last quite a long time.

The brakes will squeak quite a bit if I'm barely touching the pedal, but again that is a mark of performance brakes.

Premium fuel (91 octane) is required in the G35s, at least in the 03-04 model years.

I am a proud owner of the G35 2003. I use premium fuel ALWAYS with my car. The car runs great and I would not trade it. It has never had malfuctions or major problems. The Infiniti breaks are like nothing you have driven before...THEY ARE THE BEST! They have great response rate to them and can stop the car in a second. The breaks sometimes do squeel and squeek when you are dabbing them behind another car at a stop light. This is perfectly normal because the break is meant for a higher speed breaking. GREAT CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
this some what true ... its not a recall but a technical service bulletin due to brake noise which entails replacing pads and replacing brake hardware ... i have seen that the issue is the rotors will get a lip at the outer edge causing premature brake issues this only applies to 2003 4door models and automatic coupes which are both non brembo models ...
With the 2003 the first year they were made. Infiniti was worried about noise so they used a soft racing type brake pad that only lasted about 15k and left tons of brake dust behind on the wheels. The up side is that the car braked better then most out there. Infiniti extended the warranty to 36k for the brake pads, now Infiniti has upgrades the pads. I would say if you are going to keep the car 5 or more years use premium, With the G35 you will feel the difference. The coupe always needs premium.
if you don't put premium, you'll have a knocking engine. vq's don't like anything less than a premium.

besides, you'll probably get better gas mileage wit premium anyway.
A check on the internet does indeed seem to reveal such a problem. I have enclosed the sites I found. The second one lists all the recalls so far.

There is even a class action suit about the brake problems. It states that the replacement parts are inferior quality and wear quickly too.
Just buy some brembo brakes and be easy on them.

Use shell gas station.
