The brakes on my car are making a rotational tinny squealing sound?

After having a puncture my Mrs had a kind person help her change the tyre- they commented that the wheel lugs were extremely tight and it took alot of effort to remove them, following the tyre change the sound started. When the Mrs took the car to the tyre service centre to check they said the wheel lugs were on backwards and they fixed them the right way.Following this the noise got worse (almost instantly), now it is nearly constant from the moment you first touch the brakes and will continue even when you are not braking. It sounds tinny, its a rotational %26quot;tink tink tink%26quot; kind of sound with a sqealing sound as you brake. We figure, from other related questions here, that the discs are warped/damaged, is this repairable or is it a replacement job? The pads are fine, no problems there and no dirt build up is present.

most cars have a metal strip protecting rear of brake disc that bends very easy , this could be catching disk just bend it away from disc it is very thin and flexable and allways rusty it happens allot on my cav when i do any work to front disk , pads etc i allways catch it and makes that noise you discribe so i just bend it back into shape

Sounds like the %26quot;squeelers%26quot; are checking in which means you need new brake bads
some disks have a metal protection cover. It sounds to me as though the brake disk or the wheel itself is touching this cover to make the sound. Go to a proper car service centre, not just a tyre fitter and get them to check.
sounded like it needs pads but if they are ok it could be warped discs.they are not fixable they need to be replaced..but i think its something else wheels maybe touching the brakes.have you got the right wheels on the car.

the rotors of the car can be turned %26quot;resurfaced%26quot; and it will atleast temporarily fix them in most cases. Your best bet is to buy new rotors which usually run about $20 per around my town. If the scrapers of the pads aren't touching the rotor then they're fine. Also be sure there is no debre in the caliper and sliders need to be well lubricated as well. These are touchy things but not hard to do at all. Oh ya make sure to take a look at the wheel barings in case the flat tire had impact on or near them.
I am very concerned about the wheel lugs being fitted backwards???!!! If the wheel has nuts then it is possible to fit them backward but this would not cause the current problems. If there are wheel bolts then it is not possible to fitt them backwards.

Judging from your question I would say that the back of the brake pads are dry and need to be removed and new copper grease applied to the backs of the pads to stop the squealing sound.

Brake discs tend to warp when they get hot and if there was damage to them from the nuts being fitted in backward I would expect to find the discs cracked and not warped.

Unfortunately you have not detailed the make and model of the car as this would help identify any known problems.
You normally get a judder with warped brake discs. Take it back to where you went to get the tyre repair and ask them to come out for a drive for you and point out the noise.
