How much is it to change brakes on a car?

I heard yesterday on the radio + - $99 both fronts and rear. BUT most likely you'd be persuaded to buy new rotors and what not, that is how they make their $$. they'll give you a cheap price and well.. they'll know if you know a thing or two about cars and then try to scare you to death to pay the extra $$ for new parts + labor. avg price for this scenario $250 - 300

if the car doesn't shake when pushing the brake pedal stick with the brake pads replacement only UNLESS you can hear a very very loud screeching sound every time you press the pedal, in this case you'll see deep scratches on the surface of the brake rotor which = you need brake rotors now.

if you hear the screeching sound but the brake disc(rotor) looks shinny but not scratched your good to go, no need to replace the rotors.

I'd try to get someone who knows about cars to tell you if you need new rotors or visit a trustworthy shop, ask a friend.

Can't be properly answered, due to make and model of car, parts required, and whether or not you need brakes all around or just front.
